Amazing Aloe

Aloe Vera PlantA common use for aloe vera is in the topical treatment of skin irritations, wounds, and burns including sunburn.  Aloe has been used topically for thousands of years both for cosmetic purposes and injury treatment.  Aloe is effective for topical uses as it penetrates all three layers of the skin, but aloe can also be used internally both for the treatment and prevention of various maladies.

The aloe plant is classified as a succulent, a member of the lily family, and is referred to as a “bitter herb.”  Used internally, aloe provides substantial benefits including immune, digestive, and anti-inflammatory support.  It does this thanks to high levels of polysaccharides.

White blood cells are one of the body’s first lines of defense against pathogens, and aloe helps boost their action.  In fact, aloe vera has antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties.

When ingested, aloe provides a coating to the gastrointestinal tract.  Polysaccharides are then given a clear path to aid digestion and elimination.  Aloe provides blessed relief for people suffering with acid reflux, constipation, and irritable bowel syndrome.

Aloe’s anti-inflammatory properties such as aloemannan, aloesin, magnesium, and salicyclic acid are welcomed by those experiencing bone and joint disorders.  Aloe repairs damage to tissues, provides pain relief, fights free radicals, and blocks the buildup of calcium which leads to pain and stiffness.
